Quinta Pintados is in the
hamlet of Chilrao, on the Western slopes of Foia, in the Serra
da Monchique (approximately 600m above sea level).
It is a typical
Algarve
farmhouse, renovated in 2006, now providing simple
yet comfortable accommodation for guests.
Our nearest neighbours are a half a kilometre away; the
road serving the quinta is very quiet and becomes a rough track
50m beyond the quinta. We
are accessible by car.
The nearest town is
Monchique, (15km by road) which has several small supermarkets,
a main post office and banks, as well as many good restaurants,
cafes, craft shops, and a fish and vegetable market (open
daily). The stunning
West coast and the ancient town of
Aljezur
is 35 minutes drive away; the historic towns of
Silves and
Lagos
at 45 minutes.
The guest room, furnished
in typical
Algarve
style, has twin beds, toilet/shower room and the
original bread oven which has been retained as a feature.
It has its own entrance and has access to the adjoining
dining room, where guests can make hot drinks at any time.
It has an outside seating area for sole use of the
occupants, with uninterrupted views of the Serra.
The quinta is set in 6.5
acres of organically farmed terraces and woodland.
The managed trees are mainly lemons and oranges.
One of the terraces is set aside for camping, opposite
the quinta, and near to fresh running water.
