Pintados
Our
wonderful farmhouse and estate lies in the Serra de Monchique
in the Algarve. Our retreat location, complements the natural
peace and quality of this whole area,
nestling between mountain . . .
and
a valley which contains our estate of fruit and a variety
of other trees.
The
house is a traditional Algarve farmhouse - also used as a
bar at some point in it's past!
During
renovations our aim was to bring out and feature it's original
and natural characteristics . . . and we've not only maintained
the significant orchards and vegetable areas, but converted
them to organic terraces.
All
our water comes from springs in the area, held in our pool
which services an extensive array of irrigation channels -
as the Moors would have done centuries ago. We've improved
the pool and area to make full use of this feature . . . and
the sun-trap in occupies . . . for sun-bathing,
for bathing (if you don't mind sharing the pool with our resident
water boatmen and frogs) . . .
.
. . or for yoga.
The
en-suite bedroom consists of the old kitchen beautifully turned
into a twin bedded room complete with original bread-oven
as a feature:

Camping

Situated
on the North-West slopes of Foia - the highest mountain in
the Algarve, we're well placed for those who like
to walk . . . or for bird-watchers
. . . as well as photographers . . . and, of cause, artists
& writers!
